Historical records - page currently under review
The Club's records are retained. This includes documentation, photos, drawings and videos: in short, anything about the Club, its members or activities which current members or their successors may need for reference in the future.
Up to about 10 years ago records were largely paper based. What documentation we have from the Club's origin to the start of the digital era is mainly stored in a fire-resistant cabinet in the training room. Since digitisation, records have been stored electronically and backed up. There are still more recent paper documents requiring conversion into digital form.
In order to safeguard them the records are protected, by lock and key in the case of the paper and password for the digital ones. However, there is an index of the material to allow members to research what is stored from historical documents, race results and committee minutes to photos of junior picnics and identify items that may be of interest. The index is accessed as a PDF by clicking on the link to 'Historical records index' on this page, or from the shortcut on the members' page of the computer in the Outer Office. Alternatively, there is a duplicate paper version of the index in a file in the Outer Office.
The records include numerous photos which Don Manson has digitised and indexed with as much detail as possible.
The intention in the longer term is to create a database to allow members to search documents and view photos or videos on the Club computer. Meanwhile, should you wish to study any of the information that we hold please contact the office who will be happy to assist you.
The club welcomes any documents, photographs, press cuttings or videos of general interest to the Club. If you have anything that you think may be relevant, please let us know.
