House Update

With Autumn commencing on the 22nd of September, I'm anxious to get the remainder of the Club House open prior to the advent of inclement weather. The House Committee is committed to completing the task of getting the whole Club safely and securely behind the double glazing shortly after the Autumnal Equinox.

In broad terms this is a two-phase operation. Phase one: opening the "Snug Bar" by 17th September, followed by phase two: opening of the "North Room" by 25th September. Both rooms will have seating plans commensurate with Government Social Spacing regulations. In the case of the North Room we will have the added ability to utilise it as a General Members Meeting Room, a Dining Room Annex or a Club Committee Room.

The Snug Bar (see above) will use existing Club furniture (tables & chairs). The soft upholstered furniture will be removed temporarily to the North Room prior to it being taken to local secure storage. The Bar will be fitted with perspex 'anti sneeze screens' very similar to the Wet Bar. The installation work will be carried out by the previous contractors for the Wet Bar namely "Super Signs" of Chichester. Whilst we have set the 17th of September as our target we are dependant on the screens being fitted by this time.

The North Room currently contains numerous items of furniture some of which permanently stay in the room. In addition there are a number of large sofas, occasional tables and stools etc. These have been relocated from the Sunshine Lounge and the Snug Bar. There is no appropriate stowage within the environs of the Club. I have therefore located a suitable rented storage for the excess Clubhouse furniture to a storage firm located near Bosham. We have secured a new 20ft shipping container which is completely wind and weatherproof plus it is located in a highly secure compound. In addition to the Clubhouse furniture, there is sufficient room to over-winter a large portion of the club's external furniture such as the new picnic tables ensuring their future longevity.

So you can see we are hoping to get the Club fully open in the very near future.

We are staging a number of events in the near future: a Fundraising Day for Macmillan Cancer on Friday 18th September, and October sees the Trafalgar Night on Saturday 24th October. In addition Ollie is hosting a number of themed suppers through the Autumn and early Winter evenings. Our next film night and plus a delicious supper is being held on he 24th September. Please book through the members' area for the food and film option: Midway was an extremely pivotal naval battle in the Pacific and is well worth a watch.

Finally, we are moving the furniture out of the club at 1000 hrs on 22nd September. If you'd like to help as part of the loading/unloading party please give me a call on 07766 165610.
